Book one in the Charmed Pie Shoppe Mysteries series. Ella Mae is from Havenwood, Georgia but seven years ago she fled to marry a man her mother did not approve of living in New York instead. After finding him "busy" with twins in the elevator of their apartment building she returns home to nurse a broken heart. Baking is her passion but after she returns home strange things start happening to people who eat some of the things she bakes though she has no clue why. To help her settle her mother and Aunt's finance the purchase of a shop that she plans to name the Charmed Pie Shoppe that will serve lots of different types of baked pies. When her old childhood rivals' fiance turns up dead after Ella Mae threatened the women she finds herself having to prove her innocence which can only be done if she can figure out who really did the awful deed. This is an awesome family of women even if they do have their secrets. The are each very individual people with strong personalities but the blend of them all is quite explosive as well. This has all of the earmarks for a perfect foundation for a magical series that I bet I am going to really enjoy if this first one is any indication. This one gets 4/5 stars and I am really looking forward to starting book two.
