Book one in the Pepper Martin series. Meet Pepper who was raised as the spoiled child of a plastic surgeon who had to recreate her life after Daddy was convicted of Medicare fraud bringing all the bad things that entails. Of course she had to get a job though she had no qualifications for anything. She finds one as a tour guide at a well known local cemetery. Things are looking fine until she stumbles hitting her head on the side of a mausoleum. That would have been the extent of the bad but then she starts seeing and hearing the ghost of the guy whose resting spot she rammed into. He was a former mob boss and has the behaviors to prove it. He asks her to solve his 30 year old murder and then promises to fade away. What follows is quite comical as Pepper, who had no investigation experience, stumbles around asking questions of people she does not know while trying to hide the fact that she is taking to the murdered man. By the time it is over she has found herself in danger, several people thinks she a little wonky, and the dead guy is happy he can finally move on. Overall this is a cute cozy mystery that involves ghosts and an unskilled yet lovable sleuth that will have to learn what not to do along the way. It took a while for me to really get into this one so I can only give it 3/5 stars.
