Book one in the Callie's kitchen Mystery series. This is a great start to a new cozy mystery series. We get to meet Callie who runs a restaurant of sorts that specializes in Greek meals made from scratch mixed in with some hardy Midwestern fare in both eat-in and take home meals. Things are going great until she finds her boyfriend dead and she becomes the main suspect making her business tank. Of course she has to investigate. The mix of cooking, investigating, and just everyday life (the dog and daughter are great touches which really add a whole new layer to the story itself) has the perfect balance in this story which keep the readers attention from the very first page. The characters really come to life and I found myself getting emotionally attached before it was all said and done. This book is very well written and I highly recommend it to fans of cozy mysteries. I really enjoyed it so it gets 4/5 stars.
