Character Interview
Character Name: Olivia Redmond
1) I’m a newspaper reporter for the London Daily Premier working on the features desk. The publisher of the paper, Sir Henry Benton, is my best friend’s father, and when I found myself widowed and needing a source of income to save me from moving home with my father, Sir Henry hired me. Of course, he had an ulterior motive. He needed someone to go into Nazi Germany to help his late wife’s relatives escape. Since I speak fluent German, am an English Christian, and could write stories for the newspaper for a cover story, I was a perfect choice.
Then Sir Malcolm Fremantle, British spymaster, found out about me, and he’s borrowed me from the newspaper a few times since then, as you’ll see in Deadly Broadcast.
Something you might not guess? I can’t cook, I can’t get along with my father, and I love my army captain husband passionately. When he gets leave, we love to go out dancing.
2) I first met Kate Parker when she was casting a young widow of a murder victim to solve the mystery in Deadly Scandal. I was perfect for the role. She could see that immediately.
3) Dish about Kate? Dare I? Well, when she was in her late twenties, she wasn’t nearly as good looking as I am. She can’t dance. But she understands my inability to cook. For one dinner, never to be repeated, she invented the Star Wars defense.
4) My life is in a book because Kate won’t let me have a peaceful moment. There’s always someone or something to rescue from the Nazis and their followers in Britain. And to be perfectly honest, I do like a bit of excitement now and again.
5) My favorite character is my husband, Captain Adam Redmond. He’s good looking, funny, kind, loyal and brave. We haven’t quite made it to our six month anniversary yet, and I’m praying Hitler doesn’t move any time soon so we can enjoy it.
6) Least favorite? That would be my father. He’s annoying and Victorian. However, he’s not as evil as Frank Kennedy, the first murder victim in Deadly Broadcast. He made so many enemies I can’t figure out how he wasn’t murdered before the night I tripped over his body.
7) Next, Kate is sending me to Denmark just as the Nazis invade. I’m supposed to rescue a Nobel Prize winning chemist and his wife since the wife was once a close friend of my mother. My mother died when I was six, and I don’t speak a word of Danish, but spymaster Sir Malcolm is sending me over days before the tanks and ships and soldiers cross the border. Kate is calling the book Deadly Rescue.

About Deadly Broadcast
The phony war has dragged out past Christmas into a dark and dreary New Year, 1940.
In the blackout, someone murdered BBC engineer Frank Kennedy, making him more popular dead than alive. A blackmailer and bully, he sold out his friends, assaulted his Broadcasting House colleagues, and sabotaged his employer.

Britain’s counterintelligence spymaster orders newspaper reporter Olivia Redmond to find Kennedy’s killer and learn which of the many motives led to his murder. Olivia quickly learns how vicious Frank Kennedy was and halfway hopes his killer escapes hanging.
