Book twenty-five in the Alex Cross series. Well Alex is in trouble now. In one of the short stories he is harassed by a group of Gary S. fans that mess with his head until he finds himself in a shoot out at an abandoned factory killing two people and permanently paralyzing a third. The crime scene found no guns though so he has to go to trial. He swears he saw guns in their hands so what follows is one crazy convoluted investigation into what really happened. The only problem is that they have to figure it out before the trial is over in order to save Alex from prison. While all of this is going there is yet another serial killer case going on as well which Alex really wants to get involved in though he cannot until he is cleared. If you are a fan of this series, like I am, then you have to read this one to keep up with what is going on with Alex, but if you have not been reading them I do not recommend reading this as a stand alone because too many parts would not make sense without the background. Overall like the others this is a great murder mystery novel that really gets into the nitty gritty leaving nothing to the imagination. I really enjoy the weird twists of the investigations and the way they always seem to figure things out even if it is a strange way to do so. I give this installment 4/5 stars.
