Yet, before Anne'scompletely settled in, her neighbor is found dead in his compost pile. What’s worse is that Anne’s quirky young neighbor, Kandi Jenkins, could be the killer. When Kandi begs for her help, Anne feels she has no choice but to help the young woman. However, she finds herself quickly at odds with the local sheriff. And while she uncovers more of the community's secrets, she's also exploring her awakening feelings for Sam Powers, the town's deputy coroner. REVIEW
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

I just have to say that this book is way to cute for its own good. We get to meet Anne as she moves into a new town after a crazy divorce only to meet her neighbors in an unexpected way as they fight over a loose chicken of all things. I was enjoying the focus on backyard farming and their are enough chicken facts throughout that I really feel like I learned something by the end. The murder of the neighbor was ingenious and I found it nice that the investigation followed a meandering path with a surprising outcome. This is a wonderful start to a new series that I highly recommend to fans of the genre. I really enjoyed so I give it 4/5 stars and I will be keeping my eye out for the next book to come out at a future date.

Love the cover - such a contrast between the mansion in the background and the foreground chicken and axe. I'd love the opportunity to read this book!
