Book one in the Penning Trouble Mystery series. What an amazing start to a new series! We get to meet Penny as she moves home to help her dad with the P.I. business after being a journalist. She arrives just in time to catch a local contest to locate a planted historical coin in the local lake and lots of activity at all hours of the day. Things get even crazier when a a lake monster legend rears its ugly head. Penny gets curious and starts digging into things which leads to even more crazy stuff that kept me hooked until the very last page. It was great! the story is so well written with lots of interesting details and characters we can all love. It has a slight whimsical flair to it as well which keeps it from getting too serious which I enjoyed. I highly recommend it to fans of cozy mysteries that have a strong lead character. I really enjoyed each and every page so it gets 4/5 stars.
