Twelve Slays of Christmas by Jacqueline Frost

Twelve Slays of Christmas (A Christmas Tree Farm Mystery #1)

Book one in the brand new Christmas Tree Farm Mystery series. This is a wonderful to start to a new series and perfect for this time year. The setting is a Christmas Tree Farm in Maine that pretty much has its own holiday village on the property and they host the twelve days of Christmas ending on the 24th which is how they make most of their money for the year. Holly returns open just in time for the festivities after she walks in on her fiance boinking another woman. She no sooner arrives and she finds a dead body on the property. Her dad becomes the main suspect and property is shut down for a few days. In an effort to save the day she starts asking questions and very quickly finds herself being stalked and threatened no matter what she does. This does not slow down the holiday events though and in the end she is able to figure out who the killer is though she is almost killed in the process. This is feel good kind of story as the author really goes above and beyond creating the setting which had details that blew my mind (The Hearth decor for instance). The visual in my head was pretty awesome to say the least. There are plenty of twists and turns in the story to keep it moving while still keeping the holiday spirit. By the end I was in love with all the characters and am really looking froward to the next installment in the series. I loved it so much that this one gets 5/5 stars.
