When his bleeding-heart spouse, Abby,

Rumor Vargas is first
on the witness list of Deputy Sheriff Cooper "Coop" Jones
who’s investigating her friend's murder. Rumor finds his methodical
mind attractive and she's curious about his battle-weary eyes. But
when he turns that inquiring mind on her big brother as a prime
suspect, Rumor has a reason besides attraction to keep Coop
close.
The Sheriff suspects Alberto Vargas has Cartel ties,
and this certainly looks like the Sinoloan gang's work. On the other
hand, Abby's husband—and his lover--have their own motives for
murder.
The further Coop digs into the case, the less the
facts add up for any of his known suspects. Someone has a grudge
against Jace Merrick. A life and death grudge. And it's time for pay
back.

Book two in the Timber Creek K-9 Mystery series. Things are really heating up in Timber Creek now. Deputy Brody's girlfriend turns up missing which calls everyone in especially Robo with his nose. Things are looking grim until an anonymous callers gives directions to what is supposed to be the body. Mattie and Brody (along with Robo) go out in a snow storm to search. When they find Mattie has to stay behind with no supplies to keep it safe. What follows is a crazy mystery that I could not have thought of myself which lots of twists and turns that all seem to flow together into one big picture that I did not see coming. Perfect for fans of police procedure mystery novels that have a K-9 element to top it off. I really enjoyed it so it gets 4/5 stars.
Book one in the Timber Creek K-9 Mystery series. This is the beginning of Mattie and Robo working together after their training. Mattie is still trying to trust her partners instincts and tends to question things more then she should. If she just would have trusted Robo's instincts a little more the case would have been solved in half the time though it would not have been nearly as interesting. The character development is strong and the story is well built with lots to keep the reader entertained while still guessing what will happen next. I highly recommend this book to fans of police procedure mystery novels or ones that focus on the K-9 aspect. I really enjoyed it so it gets 4/5 stars.
Hunting Hour: A Timber Creek K-9 Mystery Mystery/Police Procedurals/Woman Sleuths 3rd in Series Crooked Lane Books (August 8, 2017) Hardcover: 320 pages ISBN-13: 978-1683312772 E-Book ASIN: B06XWFGDY5
Deputy Mattie Cobb is in a dark place and has withdrawn from Cole Walker and his family to work on issues from her past. When she and her K-9 partner Robo get called to track a missing junior high student, they find the girl dead on Smoker’s Hill behind the high school, and Mattie must head to the Walker home to break the bad news. But that’s only the start of trouble in Timber Creek, because soon another girl goes missing—and this time it’s one of Cole’s daughters.
Knowing that each hour a child remains missing lessens the probability of finding her alive, Mattie and Robo lead the hunt while Cole and community volunteers join in to search everywhere. To no avail. It seems that someone has snatched all trace of the Walker girl from their midst, including her scent. Grasping at straws, Mattie and Robo follow a phoned-in tip into the dense forest, where they hope to find a trace of the girl’s scent and to rescue her alive. But when Robo does catch her scent, it leads them to information that challenges everything they thought they knew about the case.
Mattie and Robo must rush to hunt down the kidnapper before they’re too late in Hunting Hour, the third installment in critically acclaimed author Margaret Mizushima’s exhilarating mystery series.

I have to admit that I am thoroughly enjoying this series. Following the deepening relationship between Mattie and Robo has been an incredible journey and this installment is no exception. Mattie really relies on her partner by this point and it just makes the book amazing as a results. The additional personal elements gave the story a new dimension to go with. The writing keeps the reader hooked and the mystery kept me guessing with a few surprise twists along the way just to make it even more interesting. I am fully invested in the characters now and am looking forward to future installments to see what happens next. if you enjoy mystery novels with police presence and a strong female lead character then this is the series for you. The K-9 addition just makes it even better. I highly recommend them all! I really enjoyed it so I give it 4/5 stars.
