Book Blitz and Giveaway for The Billionaire's Ploy by Allie Burton

The Billionaire’s Ploy
Allie Burton
(Castle Ridge, #5)
Publication date: October 25th 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
All’s fair in love and business.
Billionaire Jackson Croft refuses to let anything interfere with his merger and marriage plans. His merger. His brother’s marriage. When Emory Barrington returns to Castle Ridge and catches his younger brother’s attention, Jackson needs to take drastic steps to stop the flirtation. Even if it means using himself as bait.
As a child Emory was infatuated with the younger Croft brother, so when he invites her to a party she can’t resist. Until Jackson interrupts their dance, tries to bribe her, and then steals a kiss. A kiss that vibrates to her soul.
To make up for the attempted bribe, Jackson offers her a job decorating his Denver penthouse. She’s just starting her interior design firm and can’t turn the business away even if it means working closely with the billionaire. The project turnaround is fast and the attraction between Emory and Jackson grows faster. She believes she sees the real man beneath the façade, but when she learns of his double-dealing her heart can’t take the betrayal.
In this take on the Sabrina story, can deception lead to love?
—
EXCERPT:
“The party is tonight. You should come.”
Emory’s spirits flew. All her teenage fantasies about attending one of the Croft events burst into an explosion of light. Excitement shot through her entire body. Ryder Croft invited me, Emory Reese Barrington, to a Croft party.
Jeez, quit acting like a child. She shouldn’t be impressed. She’d been to lots of fancy parties in Spain. She was a special guest at a Vizconde’s party. Her thoughts soured. One of many of his special guests.
“You’re inviting me to your sister’s wedding reception? Isn’t it too late to RSVP?” Except he wasn’t inviting Emory, he didn’t know who he spoke to.
“There will be hundreds. One more person won’t be noticed.” He took her hand and rubbed his thumb against her skin. “We could dance.”
This should be where she swooned. Clutching the coat tighter between her hands, she imagined holding Ryder in her arms while they danced, of him walking her through their elaborate gardens as he’d done with other girls, of him kissing her.
Ryder would be disappointed when he found out her name. For now, for this one moment in time, she could feel special. “I’d love to.”
“Great.” An uneasiness slid into his gaze, and she wondered if he was picturing the woman he’d planned to propose to. He opened the trunk, taking out her suitcase.
“Hello, Emory.” An even deeper, masculine voice rumbled.
Her heart leapt to her throat, blocking the passage of air. She pivoted around at the greeting. Her fantasy to pretend for a little while longer died by two words from the frightening, older brother. She’d hoped Ryder wouldn’t learn who she was until tonight at the party. When she was dressed up and looking her best.
It was too late now. “Hello, Jackson.”
Wearing a suit and tie on a Saturday afternoon, he strolled from his boring sedan parked ahead of them. His brown hair had been slicked back from his forehead in perfect grooming. A couple of new lines had formed on his forehead. Only a year older than Ryder, he acted at least five years older. Because he never had fun, his only interest being the family business.
“Emory?” Ryder raised his brown eyebrows into high arches. He hadn’t guessed who she was after spending thirty minutes in her company.
Her flying spirits took a dive and crashed to the ground. Had she been so unnoticeable as a kid? Jackson had recognized her immediately.
He signed off on a clipboard a worker gave him, barely glancing at her. “How was Barcelona?”
She angled her chin, surprised he remembered where she’d gone, and that she’d been gone at all. Their paths didn’t cross frequently in the past, on purpose. She’d avoided him and his overbearing attitude. “Good.”
The work experience had been great. The personal life, not so much. She wasn’t going to go into detail. Not with Jackson.
“Emory?” Ryder’s jaw dropped.
“Your mother is going to be glad you’re home.” Jackson considered her and his brother. His expression went quizzical. “Good to see you,” he said, before heading up the stairs and through the front door.
“Emory?” Ryder shook his head trying to get her name straight.
Her shoulders dropped farther every time he said her name. Her fantasy had ended sooner than expected. “I suppose your invitation to the party has been withdrawn, now you know who I am.”
“No.” He shook his head again. “No. Of course not.”
She raised her brows. “Are you sure? Do you want to dance with the housekeeper’s daughter?”
He waved a hand in front of his face, and his expression cleared. He assessed her shape. “This is the twenty-first century.”
She squirmed with misgiving. Not really an answer to her question.

Book Blitz and Giveaway for Captain Hotness by Weston Parker

Captain Hotness
Weston Parker
Publication date: October 24th 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
I don’t just put out fires… I start them.
Nothing gets my blood moving like an out of control fire. I’ve spent the last few years trying to have that feeling with each woman that I bring to bed. I control the firehouse with a dominance that is required, and the bedroom is no different.
Being a single father is not easy, and my mother loves to remind me of this every time we see each other. She constantly has me on blind dates, but I can’t complain too much. Every woman wants to sleep with a firefighter. Knowing that every woman is the same, I have given up of trying to find my son a mother figure.
I was getting used to the idea of raising my son alone until Bailey came into my life. A bartender with eyes that could have men spending thousands of dollars in one sitting. Her friendship is enough to keep me coming back but things are starting to change.
I’m going to do what I know best. I’m going to turn up the heat on her and see how long she can last.
—
EXCERPT:
Jeremy
“She’s at the bar.” Nina sat down at the table we were shown to and smiled up at me. “Go get me a Bud Light in a bottle with a lime.”
“What?” I glanced down at my sister and back up at Bailey, who had yet to notice me. “The waiter will-”
“Now, please.” Nina pushed at my stomach softly. “Go. Get. Me. A. Beer. At. The. Bar.”
“What are you, a robot now?” I smiled and turned toward the bar. “How did you know that was her?”
“She hasn’t changed a bit.” My sister snorted and glanced over her shoulder. “She’s filled out, but she still looks like little Bailey down the street, Jer.”
“No.” I shook my head and headed toward her. “No, she doesn’t. Not in the slightest.”
The little girl with boy’s clothes, pigtails, and mud all over her face was all but gone. The woman in front of me was stunning and left my body hard and aching like a mother fucker.
“Jeremy.” She smiled and pressed her hands to the bar before looking toward my table. She leaned closer and whispered playfully, “Another date? Need help?”
I laughed and glanced over my shoulder before turning back to her. “No. My older sister.”
“Nina?” Her eyes lit up.
“Yeah. She’s saving me from another blind date Mother set me up on.” I shrugged. “My mom wants me to move on.”
“I think that’s very sweet of her to stay involved in your life.” She reached up and tucked a strand of dark hair behind her ears. I wanted so badly to see her hair down, to slip my fingers into it, to make love to her pretty pink lips.
“Sweet?” I forced a laugh. “Try again. It’s a pain in the ass, but I love her too much to tell her to back off.”
“Tell Nina to do it?” She offered before bending down to grab something from the counter below her. The white button-down shirt she wore opened just right. The muted pink bra she wore pressed her tits up, their creamy tops thick and beautiful. My cock pulsed in my jeans and pressed against the back of my belt.
Fuck me. She was everything I wanted. I hadn’t thought about making love to a woman in ages, much less taking my time to explore her fully. I wanted quick and dirty so that it was over and I could get on with life. I didn’t want anything soft, sensitive or loving.
“Like what you see?” She glanced up to find me half-drooling. Fuck.
“Yes. You’re so beautiful.” I sat down at the barstool closest to me. “I can’t even find remnants of the little girl who Rhys and I tossed in the air or drug around in the mud.”

Book Blitz and Giveaway for Thigh Highs by Katia Rose

Thigh Highs
Katia Rose
Publication date: October 26th 2017
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Romance
Modelling lingerie for her arch-nemesis was not on Christina’s to-do list.
Then again, neither was he.
Aaron Penn might be the talk of the advertising school they both attend, but to Christina he’s just an egomaniac with a cocky smirk to match. Fast forward to the end of term, when a class project gone wrong has her stripping down to a negligee and letting Aaron photograph her to advertise a line of women’s underwear.
She expects suggestive comments and smarmy-eyed stares, but when Aaron gets behind the camera he treats her body like a work of art. Even though all she’s got on is a scrap of satin, the room suddenly feels way too hot.
As the tension between them builds to expensive-panty-melting-levels, Christina finds herself caught between falling for the complicated artist who knows just what poses to put her in, and wondering why he acts like such an irritating hotshot around everyone else.
—
EXCERPT:
“No way,” I gasp, staring at the very large, very professional-looking camera in Aaron’s hands. “Did you just steal that?”
He looks up after setting the camera down on the desk next to the carefully arranged lingerie.
“Really?” he demands, cocking a brow. “Is your opinion of me actually so bad that your first assumption is to think I stole this?”
I give him a look that suggests exactly that.
“I didn’t steal it,” he confirms. “It’s mine. I…”
His eyes drift to the floor and he takes a moment to heft the gear bag he has thrown over his shoulder onto the desk, turning away from me as he does.
“I do photography sometimes,” he continues. “It’s just a hobby. I was going to come back in here after the shoot and play around a bit.”
“That looks like more than just a hobby.” I gesture towards all his gear as he turns back to face me.
He shrugs, avoiding my eye. “I mean, I have to look good in all my selfies.”
“It’s like being a douchebag is just a reflex for you,” I sigh. “I almost can’t even blame you for it.”
He starts unzipping the bag and pulls out a few lenses. As I watch, it occurs to me that even though we’ve now got a camera and someone who knows how to use it, our problems are far from solved.
“So do you have a C cup model hiding in that bag?” I ask him. “Because if not, we’re still screwed.”
“You must be at least a C cup,” he responds, not looking up from the lenses.
I’m about to ask what that has to do with anything when the realization of what he’s suggesting hits.
Oh hell no.

Author Bio:
Katia Rose is not much of a Pina Colada person, but she does like getting caught in the rain. She prefers her romance served steamy with a side of smart, and is a sucker for quirky characters. A habit of jetting off to distant countries means she’s rarely in one place for very long, but she calls the frigid northland that is Canada home.

EXCERPT:
“What are you doing aboard my ship?”
I swallowed hard, my lip trembling as I fumbled for the words. I didn’t even know where to start, and my face burned as I tried to gather my thoughts. No matter how I told the story, it all seemed so ridiculous.
“Tell me!” he commanded.
“I’m searching for my fiancé.”
He took a step forward, his boots thudding hard on the floor. “Your fiancé.” He took another step, and I flinched. The ship rolled and tumbled beneath my feet, and I grasped onto the panels, my fingers digging into the polished oak planks.
“Are you mad?” His fists clenched at his sides, powerful and trembling.
“It would look that way, sir.” My eyes drilled into a tiny knot on the floor, willing myself to shrink in size so I could dive into it and scurry away like a little mouse. But his boots thundered forward, the small buckles making a sound like clinking chains.
“Are you in some sort of trouble? Is that it? Are you with child?” His voice softened, and I looked up, startled at the sudden change in his tone.
“No, sir.”
“Well, then?” he boomed.
I jumped, folding myself deeper into the corner of the room. What could I have possibly said to him in that moment? Telling Captain Grant that Johnny’s father had accused me of stealing, so I had to run away to consummate our marriage in order to clear my name and win back my homeland was perhaps not the best way to endear myself to him.
“There’s been…” I swallowed the lump in my throat. “There’s been trouble at home.”
Grant let out an exasperated sound, shaking his head and turning away with a curse. “You do understand you are aboard a ship with over seven hundred male sailors, correct? A woman has no place on a ship of the line bound for battle. I cannot guarantee your safety.”
“I know that, sir.”
“And due to the nature of our mission, I am in no position to turn us around.”
“Yes, sir.”
He shook his head, pacing the room. “You have endangered yourself and my men with your presence. I know officers who would hang you for treason against England for what you have done.”
“I suppose it’s a good thing I’m not English, then.” The words popped out before I could stop them, my latent nationalism waving a pitiful green flag in the dim light of the Captain’s chambers.
A muscle flickered in his jaw, and when he turned to me again, I nearly gasped at the rage in his bright eyes. All the blood drained from my face, and I bit my lip, willing my saucy tongue to hold still.
“You think this is some sort of game?” His eyes narrowed, and he pressed closer to me.
My courage fired back, and I straightened, raising my shoulders in a challenge.
His eyes flitted over me from head to toe, and he made a low sound in the back of his throat. “I should throw you overboard and let the fish eat at your rebel heart.”
“Better to die a rebel than live as a slave.”

Death Before Decaf by Caroline Fardig

Death Before Decaf: A Java Jive Mystery

Book one in the Java Jive Mystery series. If you enjoy cozy mysteries then this is so the book for you. We get to meet Juliet as she moves back to her hometown after losing everything to a loser ex making her have to start over. her best friend Pete (who she has a major crush on) owns the coffee shop and needs a manager. She steps in to take over. It is a really bumpy transition and then things get worse as the main cook is found murdered with Juliet the main suspect. What follows is a hilarious investigation with lots of mistakes and the funniest funeral scene I think I have ever read (seriously you have to read it I almost developed abs laughing so hard). The banter between the characters also had me rolling around on the floor giggling making this a wonderful book that I thoroughly enjoyed. I give it 4/5 stars and highly recommend it.

Beauty Like the Night by Joanna Bourne

Beauty Like the Night (Spymasters, # 6)

*I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Book six in the Spymasters series. This book had me hooked form the first page as it centers around a female spy for once that has the support of her family instead of having to hide. She even has a reputation of being a really good one at that. The only problem is that once the two halves of the couple meet one another the book tuns into a spy thriller novel a whole lot more then it does a romance novel. Shoot it was after half the book before they even kissed and the flirting was minimal to say the least. That did not make it any less of a good book though as I totally got caught in the investigation wondering what in the world would happen next. The little details worked in really kept the story moving. The romance part did heat up towards the end in what seemed like an effort to redeem itself for the genre itself. Though odd for a historical romance book it is extremely well written and I enjoyed it a lot so it gets 4/5 stars.

The Crown's Fate by Evelyn Skye

The Crown's Fate (The Crown's Game, #2)

Book two in the Crown's Game series. I wanted to like this book a whole more than I actually did. The premise is solid set in Russia where there is an Imperial Enchanter even though magic is hidden form the world. Vika got the job after defeating Nikolai in the last book though he is not really dead at all. What follows is a long convoluted story of him going a little crazy walking the bad side while Vika tries to save him. There is an awful lot of whining going on (as well as a wonky love triangle that made me want to smack someone) and they seemed to keep repeating the same statements over and over again. I really liked the insight in the Russian culture though and the world building is awesome though not enough to make up for the rest. I still liked it so I can give it 3/5 stars but I really wish it flowed a little smoother.
