Character Interview
Character Name: Maximilian Bettencourt the Third.
Tell us a little bit about yourself--both something we learn from Vampires and Villains, the second book in the Magical Mystery Book Club series, and something that readers might not guess
Good afternoon! I’m Maximilian, but you can call me Million. I’m the newest member of the Magical Mystery Book Club. Had no idea what I was getting into, but when you’re an ancient guy like me, eighty-two to be specific, you get to where you’re up for anything. This trip would have definitely been on my bucket list had I known about it. I’m a really lucky guy to have found it.
How did you first meet your writer?
The author heard about me when I got into a bit of a tussle with my next-door neighbor and I – well, you don’t need to hear the details right now. Let’s just say the judge felt I acted “unneighborly” and sentenced me to a year in this crazy book club. It was either that or jail. Think I picked brilliantly.
Want to dish about him/her?
Well, that Elizabeth Pantley already wrote a series about a woman who falls into a mirror and finds herself in a magical place called Destiny Falls, so she’s the perfect one to write about this book club. She’s no stranger to enchanted worlds!
Why do you think that your life has ended up being in a book?
It’s a perfect match for me. I mean, I love books and all, used to own a bookstore, ya see. But this enchanted library is a cut above. It’s all cozy mystery books – thousands of ‘em! You don’t just read these babies – you’re absorbed right into the story and get to solve the mystery firsthand.
Who's your favorite character? Why?
Ahh. My good friend, Vincent, of course. We’re like brothers from another mother. Except that my mother was just an ordinary woman, unlike his. But that’s a story for another day.
What's next for you?
I can’t tell ya, cuz I’d have to be exposing a series of spoilers. I know that your readers would rather find that out for themselves.
About Vampires and Villains
Paige and her joyful Aunt Glo have learned that the home they inherited comes with a magical library. They put together a book club group of loveable kooks to explore the magic.
They’ve recovered from their first book journey, and they all agree on their next book which takes place on a cruise ship bound for Hawaii. Problem is, they were so excited about the cruising idea that they didn’t read the entire blurb on the back of the book. (“It was entirely too long,” explains Zell.) Once on the ship, they meet a charming and likable man who blends seamlessly into their motley group. Too bad they don’t know why he’s so scarce during the day but shows up to join them every evening for dinner, drinks, and a show. When a dead body shows up on board, their new friend is labeled a suspect. Can they help him out by finding the real murderer? Or is he the real murderer? The book club will need to solve the case to get off the ship, out of the book, and back to their home.

Thank you for the amazing review and feature! I'm having the time of my life writing about this crazy book club - I'm so happy I get to share it with you! : - )
