I have to say that I really enjoy these books that share a world but can stand on their own. We met Connie and Malakai briefly in the Academy of Misfits series which is highlighted in this book as well but now we get their story. Connie is a new adult when she meets Malakai for the first time. He is years older then her though which gives him pause. Add in some past history on top of his own personal demons to make it that much worse in his mind. She knows better though so she doesn't give up even when he constantly does his disappearing act. An emotionally riveting romance that will keep you captivating until the very end. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
