Blog Tour, Character Interview, Review, & Giveaway for Ghost Cat of Ocean Cove by Mollie Hunt

Character Interview

Character Name: Soji

Tell us a little bit about yourself--both something we learn from [the story] and something that readers might not guess?
I Soji, the spirit of one long dead. My home is a gravestone in the back of a garden, laid a century ago by loved ones when I crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I very special, seventh black kitten of a seventh black kitten, so I not stay completely dead.

I saw the man killed on my garden’s doorstep. I know the killer, but I not say. Then the new person came to live in the domicile. I visit her often. She needed me to help catch the killer. Maybe I did; maybe not.

How did you first meet your writer?
My writer, Mollie Hunt, wove me from the fabric of her imagination, but I gave her many hints along the way. I showed her my spirit self, all white and misty with coal-red eyes, as well as my solid form with long, black fur and emerald eyes as I was when alive. I revealed myself to her a bit at a time. The revealing continues.

Want to dish about her?
The writer is a cat person, so I not the first ghost cat she has encountered in her lifetime. Besides Ghost Cat of Ocean Cove, she writes a series called the Crazy Cat Lady cozy mysteries featuring a cat shelter volunteer and the Cat Seasons Sci-fantasy Tetralogy about cats saving the world. The tetralogy is what humans call fantasy, with time travel and magical transformations, but no ghosts.

Why do you think that your life has ended up being in a book?
I the most amazing and fascinating phenomenon—of course I be in books. I have things to say, secrets to tell, and a history stretching back one hundred years. I have been many things. Now I learn I “super-sleuth” as well.

Who's your favorite character? Why?
I not the only cat at Love Cottage, my place in Ocean Cove. The new person brough someone with her—Blaze, a living feline. I love his smart tuxedo coat and his little meows. I love curling up next to him. He accepts me, even though I dead. Being with him reminds me of what I once was.

Who's your least favorite character? Why?
As I told before, I saw the death, the killings, and though I find sympathy for the poor, sad thing who committed them, that person is abhorrent to me.

What's next for you?
The county fair is coming to Ocean Cove, and with it, an elderly tiger who I must save from a terrible fate. If you love cotton candy, Ferris wheels, and murder, watch for Ghost Cat Comes Back, the next Tenth Life Cozy Mystery by Mollie Hunt.

REVIEW
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Hunt has a great skill of bringing her characters to life and this start to a brand new series is no exception. We meet Camelia and her wonderful cat Blaze as they make the move to the coast of Oregon. She has wanted to live there her entire life finally having the chance to do so. What she didn't know though is that the previous owner of her house was killed there and culprit has yet to be caught. Another intriguing surprise is a really old gravestone in the garden that belongs to a really special cat that pops up as a ghost trying to help her solve the murder. This makes for a great read as the story really comes to life making you feel like you are there as well. Plenty of surprises along with a strong cast of characters really brings the book together creating a story that is sure to delight cozy fans. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
