*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

This is a new author/series for me but so was eager to dive into it to see what happens. I have no regrets and highly enjoyed the story. We follow Frankie who honestly is a hoot. She is taking care of a sheep farm while the owners are away at a family wedding. Things should have gone smoothly but then strange sounds wakes her up in the middle of the night. Upon investigating she found a man shot. Questions arise about what happened so Frankie decides she has to look into things before the owners return. This leads to all sorts of interesting situations as well as strange things going on. Set in a small town that is filled with a wide range of characters sets things up for quite a few surprising twists that will keep you turning the page to see what happens next. Made of a delightful cozy that is sure to be enjoyed by fans of the genre. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

Joy Ann Ribar lives in central Wisconsin with her business partner-husband, John. She writes the Deep Lakes Mystery Series, starring baker/vinter and all-around spitfire, Frankie Champagne. Joy’s writing is inspired by Wisconsin’s four distinct seasons and local flavors, which she hopes to promote for all to enjoy.

Joy is a member of Sisters in Crime, Midwest Independent Booksellers, and Wisconsin Writers Association. She enjoys researching viticulture at area wineries, birding, hiking, and chatting with readers.
