It's
Friday, and I'm getting ready for my usual shift. Well, I'm trying to,
and I would have been done ages ago if it weren't for the owner, Mr.
Riley, who hasn't stopped talking to me.
“Baby,
you know how important it is that the gentlemen who booked you are kept
happy.” Like, I didn't already know this. I've been working here for
nine years, and I'm his top moneymaker. I know it. He knows it. That's
why this conversation isn't just pointless, it's as bothersome as it is
insulting.
I
really can't be bothered arguing with him, so instead, I turn my back
to him and start rubbing the expensive scented oil on my arms. The
clients love the way the light shines on my skin when I'm covered in
this, which is the sole reason Mr. Riley has made it mandatory. Never
mind the fact that working the pole is almost impossible when slathered
in grease. Seriously, I'm pretty sure it's a hazard. But who cares about
small things like safety when there's money on the line? Mr. Riley
doesn't. And frankly, neither do I.
Don't
even get me started on the term “gentlemen.” Ugh, there's nothing
gentle about the clientele here. Especially not the ones I'm going to be
entertaining tonight. Bachelors out to party, thinking that all bets
are off just because they're celebrating one man's upcoming nuptials.
Yes, nothing says “I'm ready to get married and commit to you,” like
having a stranger writhe on your lap first
.
