Character Name: Vangie
Vale (Evangeline, but… it’s Vangie)
1)
Tell us a little bit about yourself--both
something we learn from [the story] and something that readers might not guess?
Well, I am a
bakery owner and a part-time pastor, living in a small mountain town in
Montana. When I lost my last job in North Carolina, I got “exiled” up here
because my last bishop owed my current bishop a favor. Now, I happily bake
during the week and preach on the weekends. Something readers might not know
about me is that I am quite tall. 5’10”. I tend to tower over most of my female
friends, and honestly, have a hard time finding a guy who’s tall enough for me.
Such is life!
2) How did you first meet your writer?
In my first
book… Becca’s an ok sort. She’s from around here, so she gets the Montana
“feel” of my life right now. But also, she’s lived other places, and she loves
the area of North Carolina I grew up in. I appreciate that about her.
3) Want to dish about him/her?
About Becca? Interesting…. Well, what could I tell you… she and I are
pretty tight, but she knows more about me than I know about her. I do know that
she has this weird little wine-drinking cat named Mikhail and she loves him so
much that, in this book, she finally gave me a cat just like him. Thanks for
that, Beck. J
4) Why do you think that your life has ended
up being in a book?
Clearly, a lot of dramatic stuff happens to me. I mean, I know I’m
nosy and all, but I really have had a lot of “weird” things happen to me. So
much so, that I now feel normal with weird. Find a dead body? It’s probably
Vangie’s…
5)
Who's your favorite character? Why?
In this book?
Probably Larry Luckinbill. I mean, he’s an enigma. But he’s a magician, and I
think that’s pretty cool. Of course, he’s my ex’s dad, so I should be
predisposed to like him. But I’d never met him before…
6)
Who's your least favorite character? Why?
This is a loaded
question. I mean, my first instinct is to say Edward, my ex. Because that would
probably be true. But now that the book’s over, I don’t know how I feel about
Edward. I’m mad that he lied… I’m mad that he stole… but I also have more
compassion for him than I’ve ever had before.
7)
What's next for you?
I’m headed home to
North Carolina (home) for a big for some R&R. This whole ordeal has taken a
toll on me, and I just need to relax. Of course, if you know me, I probably
won’t relax at all…

REVIEW
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Vangie has all kinds of stuff to deal with in this new installment to the Matchbaker series. Having been in Montana for awhile now she has gotten comfortable. Maybe too comfortable since she almost panics when she learns the bakery building is being sold. This could possibly force her to leave since the church cannot pay her enough as a part time pastor. As if this is not stressful enough the !an who caused all her problems is out of jail showing up claiming to want to make amends. Reeling she has a hard time dealing with all this but then he turns up dead with her boyfriend a possible suspect. This is one doozy of an investigation as everything seems to snowball for Vangie. The story takes all kinds of unexpected twists after that leading to a surprising ending. A must read for fans of cozies with a culinary flair to them. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

About R. L. Syme
She is a writer of sleuths worth loving and villains worth hating. Lover of fancy cheese, binge-watching, strawberries, and hope. A foodie and baker of yummy delights, Becca grew up reading Nancy Drew mysteries passed on by her grandmother. A Tweeter and Pinner of things.
