Blog Tour, Character Interview, Review, & Giveaway for Death on the Shelf by Allison Brook

Character Interview

Marilyn Levinson/Allison Brook

Character Name: Roxy Forlano

1)     Tell us a little bit about yourself--both something we learn from [the story] and something that readers might not guess? I'm Angela Vecchio's older cousin. I'm five years older than Angela and haven't seen much of her lately, but when our cousin Donna, who's my best friend, asks me to help host Angela's Bridal Shower because the restaurant where it was supposed to be held burned down, I say sure. Why not? Angie's a good kid. I'm newly divorced from Miles, who cheated on me. My life is a wreck, and I suppose I have become too dependent on Aiden, Donna's husband, who is such a kind and caring person. Everyone thinks Donna and I are good friends, and we are, but sometimes it really bothers me just how lucky she is because her life is so perfect.

2)     How did you first meet your writer? I met Allison Brook in DEATH ON THE SHELF, the fifth book in the Haunted Library series.

3)     Want to dish about him/her? Allison is a really nice person. She understands I'm a highly emotional person and that I'm in really bad shape because of my divorce . She doesn't get angry when I make a fool of myself at Aiden's Memorial Service. Allison knows I mean well and want everything to come out right for all of us. Which is why I do what I do.

4)     Why do you think that your life has ended up being in a book? A major theme of DEATH ON THE SHELF is love and marriage. Even though I'm not the sleuth like Carrie or the bride like Angie, I think I'm an important character because readers can see what happens to a marriage if one party doesn't take the marriage vows seriously. I know Miles loves me and I suppose I still love him despite everything. I might consider getting back with him eventually.

5)     Who's your favorite character? Why? Though I still love Miles, I'd say that Aiden Harrington is my favorite character. He's kind and patient, and takes the time to listen to me because he knows how the divorce has affected me.

6)     Who's your least favorite character? Why? I don't like Aiden's office manager, Vera Ghent. I know that most of Aiden and Nick's patients think she nice and friendly, but I don't like the snide looks she gives me when I stop by the office to speak to Aiden. If he doesn't mind that I stop by, why should she?

7)     What's next for you?  I don't appear in any more books in the Haunted Library series.

Librarian Carrie Singleton sleuths a murder at her best friend's wedding in Agatha Award nominee Allison Brook's fifth Haunted Library mystery.

Clover Ridge librarian Carrie Singleton is thrilled to attend her best friend Angela's wedding, but Angela's family can be a bit...much. Angela’s wealthy cousin Donna hosts an extravagant bridal shower at her resplendent home, but the celebrations turn to gossip as the guests notice Donna's surgeon husband, Aiden, spending a bit too much time with Donna’s cousin Roxy. At the wedding reception, the sweet occasion turns darkly bitter when Aiden topples into the chocolate fountain--dead.

The suspect list is as long as the guest list, and as difficult to sort out as the seating chart. A few of the top contenders on Carrie’s suspect list are the flirtatious Roxy, emotionally unstable since her recent divorce; Angela's grouchy brother, who feels Aiden betrayed him; and Roxy's scorned ex-husband. Even Donna may have had reason to want her husband dead. And Aiden's gossipy office manager has plenty to say about them all.

Then another member of Angela's family is murdered, making Carrie more determined than ever to find the killer. Can library ghost Evelyn and library cat Smoky Joe help Carrie solve the murders before she becomes the next of Angela’s wedding guests to head to the grave?

REVIEW
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Another fabulous addition to this wonderful cozy series. We catch up with Carrie just in time for Angie's wedding. Things are going a little bumpy bad they Gey closer but then the day arrives. The ceremony goes off with out a hitch but the reception takes a turn for the worse when a cousin collapses dead. Determined to help Angie Carrie starts looking into things. Things Gey complicated when another body is found. With the help of Evelyn the library ghost and the library cat Smoky Joe Carrie does her best to figure things out. This makes for very entertaining read that cozy fans are sure to absolutely love. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
