Hello, I don’t believe we’ve met. I’m Morgana Wilde, daughter of Bronwen, sister of Matilda (Tilly) and mother of Kailyn. We are an ancient and powerful family of sorcerers, but there’s no need to fear us. We practice only white magick. Our shop, Abracadabra, was established by our ancestors who emigrated here from England well before the birth of this country. Over the centuries, the small town of New Camel grew up around our shop, a quaint town that has come to be known as a tourist destination. In our shop, we sell natural remedies as well as simple spells for the lay person.
Not too long ago, Bronwen and I were cut down in our prime – well, I was in my prime at any rate. Although we have passed to the other side of the veil, we pop in to visit our earthbound family to check on their well-being and to offer advice, which is not always welcome. Imagine our surprise when we learned that Merlin – yes, that Merlin – had somehow traveled through time and space to crash land in the storeroom of our shop?!
The legendary wizard was every bit as confounded as the rest of us. The best we can surmise is that while he was reciting a spell to help him find mushrooms for his dinner, Kailyn was trying to summon a new familiar. The spells must have crossed and plucked the old wizard out of his time and dropped him into ours. I place the blame squarely on Bronwen for pushing my daughter to find her own familiar, when my inimitable Sashkatu was still alive. He may be arrogant and testy at times, but no finer familiar ever lived.
As for Merlin, age has muddled his memory so that he often makes mistakes with his spells and causes no end of problems for Kailyn and Tilly. But to be fair, his presence has also helped stabilize their magick, which had become unreliable of late. The eternal yin and yang of life.
Ever since murder reared its ugly head in our town, Kailyn has made it her mission to bring the culprits to justice and she’s been more successful at it than the police, I might add. Growing up, she always had her nose buried in a murder mystery – as if having magickal DNA wasn’t enough for her. Of course Tilly, Merlin and Sashkatu get involved in the investigations too! Although Bronwen and I can’t participate, we have front row seats to much of the action. It’s enough to take a mother’s breath away!

About the Author

Sharon Pape describes her writing career as having two stages. Back in the dark ages, before computers were in every household, she had three paranormal books published. The first one was condensed by Redbook Magazine, the first paperback original they ever condensed. Then life brought her an unexpected challenge, by the name of breast cancer. After treatment, she and her oncologist started a not-for-profit to provide information and peer support to breast cancer patients. With the organization up and running, she returned to her first love – writing. This time around she’s been writing cozy mysteries with a paranormal twist. That Olde White Magick is the second book in her Abracadabra Mysteries.

REVIEW
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

I fell in love with the characters in the series during book one and this one loved up to my expectations. We get to follow Kailyn, her aunt, Merlin, and the cats on yet another murder investigation that will have you laughing and gasping along the way. The story follows a new twist that I really enjoyed and when you add the magic I had a hard time putting it down. If you enjoy cozy mysteries that have a magical flair to them then you really have to try this book/series. I really enjoyed it so I give it 4/5 stars.
