The ninth installment in the hit Quilting Mystery series by Mary Marks finds sleuth Martha searching for her fiancĂ©’s ex-wife.
One loose thread threatens to unravel Martha’s wedding plans: the groom-to-be married a pregnant teen to save her from scandal thirty years ago—and the marriage was never annulled. Now Crusher’s wife Hadas is coming to LA, along with his sister Fanya. But soon after she arrives, their houseguest goes missing, with her room ransacked and a chloroform-soaked cloth left behind. Could her apparent abduction be connected to her brother’s unsolved death from a hit-and-run six months ago? Martha and her quilting cohorts must find the pattern to solve the twin mysteries and determine if Crusher is still married—or now a widower . . .
REVIEW
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
All Martha wants to do is finally marry Yossi. She has been making him wait for quite some time as she wasn't ready but when she decides the timing is right her announcement makes him upset. Needing to know why she pushes him to tell her what is wrong only to find out he is still legally married to his BF's sister. This was not a love match just him helping the girl out of a sticky situation. Yossi is determined to get a divorce but Hadas has other ideas when she travels with his sister to visit with the main goal of winning him to her side. Very little progress is made by her attempts before she suddenly comes up missing with the guest room destroyed. Now they have to find out what happened to her before they can do anything about their situation. They ate in for quite a few surprises along the way. Filled with delightful characters we get a mystery that will keep you guessing wondering what clue will pop up next. Sure to delight cozy fans as well as those looking for an older protagonist. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
