Norma is a modern-day nomad. Living out of her van and teardrop trailer, she revels in self-reliance, solitude, and reading in the glorious peace of nature. Jovial, wise, and scrupulously honest, she's become an uplifting presence in the little town of Quindicott, Rhode Island, where bookseller Pen is thankful to have her part-time help. But it's Norma's other job, working as a housekeeper at the Finch Inn, that gets her into terrible trouble. Norma is accused of stealing jewels from a guest's room: the legendary Valentino Teardrops, an antique necklace and earring set, inherited by a young socialite. Pen doesn't believe Norma is guilty of the crime—though the evidence is distressingly strong. And when the spirited Norma vanishes before her arrest, Pen turns to another spirit...
Jack Shepard, PI, may have been gunned down decades ago, but his memory hasn't been ghosted. Back in the 1940s, those same Valentino Teardrops starred in a bizarre case of betrayal and murder. From the look of things, history is about to repeat. Now Jack is back on the job, and Pen is eternally grateful.
REVIEW
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
This series is always so much fun! Penny is an awesome character not follow. She has a gun personality while raising her son, working at the bookshop, and solving the occasional murder. Her co-worker Norma at her second job at the Inn is accused of stealing something quite valuable which Pen would never believe her capable of but things get a little more urgent when Norma goes missing causing Pen to look into things a little more. With the help of the ghost P.I. Jack Penny takes us quite the adventure as the story plays out making for quite the fun read. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

This really was a fun read and although it's been my first introduction to the author(s) and the series, I'm sure it won't be my last!

Greetings, Jessica -- Spirited cheers for reviewing our latest Haunted Bookshop mystery for Books a Plenty. Marc and I sincerely appreciate it, and we're delighted to know you enjoyed Jack & Pen's latest case (okay, cases plural, since one is in Pen's present and one in Jack's past)! As I mentioned to Elza (in my reply to her above), we're looking forward to a new entry in the series in May (2023). THE GHOST GOES TO THE DOGS was a great deal of fun to write since we're big animal lovers, and we hope readers will enjoy it, as well. Take care, thanks again, and may reading always bring you joy.
