Mia jolted, eyes jumping to my face before darting toward the dining room. She shook her head, silently trying to yank out of my hold.

 

Couldn't let her go right now even if my life had depended on it. Not while the hint of dark on her neck made me want to rip everything to shreds. It had my fingers curling into a fist.

I subconsciously rubbed my hands up and down the sides of her small waist, unsure if it was an effort to soothe her or myself. Mia's inhibitions finally cracked. She took a labored breath, shivering.

 

Such a small response. Yet it stripped me of my leftover control. I let my forehead drop between her shoulder blades. My nose dragged through her skin, inhaling her in like a crazy motherfucker.

 

Mia turned pliable in my arms. Moving closer into her, I lifted my head to press a kiss to the back of her neck. Delicate. Soft.

 

Her hitched breath hit me straight in the cock, making me groan. I ground my teeth, shaking for restraint. Just one noise too loud, and there'd be a witch hunt within minutes.

 

Sixty seconds around this woman, and she had already driven away from the perfectly logical reasons I had listed about Mia being a terrible choice for me. A dark, desperate type of hunger had taken root instead. The type that could eat for hours and not be satiated.

 

I wanted her so fucking bad. Wanted to feel her insanely beating heart. Feel the effect I had on her.

 

Might as well embrace being the bad guy.
