Well I have to admit that this book was better than I thought it would be. It tells the story of a boy as he grows up in the Soviet Union with all of the details that would entail. It has a historical yet informative feel to it that I rather enjoyed. The writing style is excellent flowing smoothly from section to section. The amount of little details that are worked in blew my mind. I had no idea that the people living over there had to endure all of those hardships, and I fully admit that it made me grateful that I was born in the United States. This is a great read for anyone that wishes to learn more about the people from this country in an easy to read manner. If Goodreads had half stars I would give it a 3.5 but since it does not I marked it as 3/5.
