Character Interview
1) Tell
us a little bit about yourself--both something we learn from Mimi Lee Reads Between the Lines and
something that readers might not guess?
I have a lot of wisdom to pass down to the younger generation—I’m even
mentoring a young kitty now, especially in the art of a proper nap. Something
readers may not know is that, thanks to my impeccable grooming, I’ve never had
a bad fur day in my life.
2) How did you first meet your writer?
Jennifer told me that Garfield comics made her laugh, but then I said to her: “Wait
until you hear my sass.”
3) Want to dish about him/her?
Her life is so boring, always staring at a screen. She also, oddly, likes to
drink steaming cups of water flavored with leaves.
4) Why do you think that your life has ended
up being in a book?
That’s obvious. It’s because I’m a superstar.
5) Who's
your favorite character? Why?
I have a soft spot for Alice Lee, my owner’s younger sister. She’s the gal who
first spotted me at the rescue shelter.
6) Who's
your least favorite character? Why?
Anyone who messes up my tranquil routine, like that Detective Brown fellow.
He’s always bringing trouble into our lives.
7) What's
next for you?
A glorious nap. Besides that, I bet I’ll have to save Mimi again when she
starts snooping. But we’re supposed to go to peaceful Catalina Island soon.
Nothing bad could happen there, right?
About Mimi Lee Reads Between the Lines
When a local teacher is found dead, LA’s newest pet groomer Mimi Lee finds herself in a pawful predicament—with her younger sister’s livelihood on the line.
Mimi Lee is on top of the world. She has a thriving pet grooming business, the sweetest boyfriend, and a talking cat to boot. When she arrives at the elementary school where her sister Alice works, she's expecting a fun girls' night out—but instead finds a teacher slumped over in her car, dead.
Alice was the last one to see Helen Reed, which instantly marks her as the prime suspect. Unable to sit quietly and let the authorities walk all over her sister, Mimi starts snooping and talks to Helen’s closest contacts, including one jumpy principal, a two-faced fiancĂ©, and three sketchy teachers. With the help of her sassy but savvy cat, Marshmallow, and a cute kitten named Nimbus, the clock’s ticking for Mimi to get to the bottom of yet another case before her sister gets schooled.
