Blog Tour, Character Interview, Review, & Giveaway for Murder at Sea Captain's Inn by Melissa Bourbon

Character Interview

Character Name: Grey Hawthorne

1)     Tell us a little bit about yourself--both something we learn from [the story] and something that readers might not guess?

Sure. My sister is Pippin, who’s the star of the Book Magic mystery series. We live under the dark cloud of a family curse. She’s meant to die in childbirth, and I…I will be swallowed by the sea. I’m not sure I believe in the curse, but she definitely does.

Something you readers might not know or guess about me is that I’m a little lonely at times. I’ve dated. A waitress from a local restaurant was a fun diversion. I need more. I want more. I’d love to fall in love.

2)

How did you first meet your writer?

She knew Pippin was a twin, and she knew both babies were named after Tolkien characters. Gandalf the Grey is a powerful character in the Lord of the Rings series. I’m honored my parents chose to name me after him, although I don’t feel worthy. Once my writer knew my name, I evolved as a character. I’m still evolving.

3)     Want to dish about him/her?

I’m not much of a secret-teller. I’m more like a vault. Tell me something that’s meant to be private, and I’ll take it to the grave. Sorry ‘bout that.

4)     Why do you think that your life has ended up being in a book?

It’s all because of bibliomancy. It’s a divinity that allows the bibliomancer to use passages of books as a guide to the past or the future. The Book Magic mysteries were crafted around bibliomancy. It is at the heart of each book.

5)     Who's your favorite character? Why?

I have to say that Pippin is coming into her own, as a woman and as a bibliomancer. If the curse is real—and if anyone can stop it—it’s her. That makes her my favorite character. Plus, she’s my twin.

6)     Who's your least favorite character? Why?

I don’t know if I can tell you that, because it would reveal the villains. I say villains because there is more than one horrible character. Thanks to Pippin, justice is being done.

7)     What's next for you?

My writer is already planning the next Book Magic mystery. I’ll definitely be part of it. I have a secret and a reckless streak because of the curse. That has to be resolved.

You can learn more about my secret in Murder at Sea Captain’s Inn.

Cozy Mystery 3rd in Series
Publisher: Lake House Press (July 20, 2021)
Approx 300 pages
 Digital ASIN: B08GL19B84

Generation after generation of Lane women die in childbirth, while the sea claims the men. Pippin Lane Hawthorne’s grand opening of Sea Captain’s Inn is tainted when a scholar studying the Lost Colony of Roanoke is brutally murdered. Like the black crow that hangs around the old house, could the untimely death be a harbinger of dark things to come? When her twin brother, Grey, begins bucking the curse by risking his life in the waters of the Outer Banks, Pippin lives in terror that he’ll be the next Lane male to be swallowed by the sea. Now she must use her gift of bibliomancy to save her brother, solve the murder, and end a two thousand year old pact.
 REVIEW
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Welcome back to Devil's Cove just in time for Pippin to have her Grand Opening for her inn. Things are well after the soft opening with her being booked full at the moment. One of the guests is a cranky woman even if she does have a P.H.D. Things get tense between her and her twin brother Grey over the family curse. He doesn't believe while she is trying to find a way to break it. Having the cranky woman murdered and left on her widows walk just makes things worse. Full of plenty of clues while still keeping you guessing until the end. The use of bibliomancy is a nice touch as well as the adorable deaf dog Sailor. Makes for a rather enjoy read the cozy fans ate sure to enjoy. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars

  1. Very cute cover. I love the dog. The blurb sounds good. I like that both the men and the women have a family curse. Thanks for the chance.
