Well this book was definitely different. It is supposed to tell the history of the events that all converged to cause what is known as "The Summer of Fire" which from what I can tell must be mentioned in others books in this series. The beginning was very confusing as it jumps around from character to character and all different time frames. It took me a while to get it all straightened out in my head regrading who was doing what plus where they were located. My next hurdle was some of the language. First there are some made up words which is fine since I read quite a bit of fantasy I'm used to that but on top of that there are some really huge regular words that while I understood them they made me feel that the author was trying to hard to get his point across or just sitting next to a thesaurus. It is a good fantasy story line though if you can get past all of that. I am not sure this was the book for me though. I only want to give it 2.5 stars but since half stars are not an option on Goodreads I gave it a 3 on there.
