*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
I have to begin by pointing out that you must read the trigger warnings. If triggers bother you then you definitely need to skip this one, but if you are okay with them in a book then you have to read this. Ford has created an intriguing dystopian world that is set up in some weird ways. We meet Mercy who belongs to a community where think men need to be able to act out the sexual and violent urges once a month with no holds barred. The poor women are led to believe that is their sacred duty to be honored by being chosen to essentially be raped for the night. Mercy is one of the very few who does not enjoy it in the slightest which leads to her running in an effort to save her life even knowing she will be severely punished for doing so. Arlo is a member of the group that is supposed ensuring they all follow the rules but he finds himself drawn to her no matter how much he tries not to. Then he gets put in charge of punishment which leads to one doozy of a cliff hanger. I knew the book was almost at the end but I was so surprised where it cut off (I was really into it by that point) that I almost threw my kindle when I realized that was it. I so need to the next book like right now!!! If you enjoy steamy (yet trigger filled) dystopian romance then you really have to read this one. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
