A Fright to the Death by Dawn Eastman

A Fright to the Death (A Family Fortune Mystery, #3)

Book three in the Family Fortune Mystery series. At the end of the last book Clyde's family knew that her and Mac were finally back together but with teenage nephew living with her plus her crazy family alone time together is few and far between. So they plan a vacation to Mexico in February. They never make it to the airport before a blizzard has them stranded. They find a castle hotel close by that sounds romantic until they find out that all the women in both their families are there at a knitters retreat. Plus they have no open rooms making them have to share. On the very first night there one of the co-owners is found murdered after the power goes out. Since they are snowed in without power or a way to leave (the road is blocked by a tree as well as snow) Mac and Clyde find themselves solving the case though they would both rather be on their private vacation together. Clyde's dad, nephew Seth, and the lovable dogs all showed up on snowmobiles after becoming worried about not being able to get in touch with the ladies which added a nice touch to the story as well as some insanity. The characters are a hoot and the addition of the physic stuff keeps the story really interesting. Great for fans of cozy mysteries with some magic thrown in. I give it 4/5 stars.
